BetOnline NFL Spread Survivor Contest: 2026 Rules, Pricing, and How to Play:
Straight-up survivor pools are one thing, but BetOnline’s Spread Survivor Contest adds a layer of difficulty by making every pick an against-the-spread call instead of a simple win-or-lose outcome. Here’s how the 2026 version works.
BetOnline Spread Contest Registration and entry fees
Registration opens Friday, July 17, and runs through Monday, September 14, closing at 8:05 p.m. ET. Anyone who waits until that final weekend to register should keep in mind that only Week 1 games still on the board at sign-up time will be available for selection — anything already underway or kicked off will be locked out.
A valid BetOnline Sportsbook account is required to enter, and all purchases come out of your sportsbook balance. The first entry costs $20. From there, pricing drops with volume: entries two through five run $15 each, and entries six through twenty-five drop to $10 each. The contest caps out at 25 entries per contestant, and there’s no requirement to buy them all upfront — you can add more anytime before the September 14 deadline. Entry purchases are final with no refunds, and registration has to happen online; BetOnline doesn’t accept sign-ups by phone, chat, or email.

How the contest works
The format follows standard survivor rules with one key twist: instead of picking a team to win outright, you’re picking a team to cover the spread. Cover it and your entry survives to the next week. Fail to cover — even in a game your team wins outright — and you’re eliminated. Once you’ve used a team for a given week, it’s off the board for the rest of the contest, so covering with the same heavy favorite over and over isn’t an option.
The contest runs the full 18-week regular season and ends either when Week 18 wraps up or when only one entry is left standing, whichever comes first. So if three entries remain heading into Week 15 and two of them pick losers against the spread, the last one standing wins outright at that point rather than waiting out the rest of the schedule. If more than one entry survives all the way through Week 18, the $100,000 prize is split evenly among them. As with most contests of this kind, a canceled or postponed game that isn’t made up by the following Wednesday results in both teams being graded as losing selections.
Making your picks each week
This is where the spread contest differs most from a standard survivor pool. Rather than opening picks on Tuesday, the selection window for each week opens every Wednesday at noon ET, and the spreads used are whatever’s live in the BetOnline Sportsbook at that exact moment. If a particular game doesn’t have a posted spread yet when the window opens, it simply won’t be available to select until one is posted. Once spreads are locked in for the week, they don’t move — you’re playing the number as it stood at kickoff of the selection period, not whatever the line drifts to later.
From there, it plays out like most weekly pick contests: select the team you think will cover, and that pick can be changed freely right up until that specific game kicks off, at which point it’s locked for good. The hard deadline to have a pick submitted is 8:15 p.m. ET Monday night — miss it with no selection made, and the entry is automatically graded as a loss and eliminated. If a team isn’t showing up as selectable, it typically means one of three things: the game has already locked, you’ve already used that team in an earlier week, or the team is on a bye. A “W2” tag next to a team just means it was used back in Week 2. Players running multiple entries need to repeat the pick process for each one, with the system loading that week’s matchups automatically and confirming each save on screen.
BetOnline Spread Contest Prize Pool
BetOnline guarantees a $100,000 cash prize for the contest, and it runs with no rake — so if total entry fees end up exceeding $100,000, the overage gets added directly to the final payout rather than held back. Winnings are paid in cash with no rollover conditions attached, credited to the winning contestant’s BetOnline account within five business days of the contest ending, and prize money can’t be transferred between accounts.

How to Play
- Contestants must select one team to cover the spread of its game each week of the NFL Regular Season.
- If the team you select covers the spread, your entry remains alive and you select a team for the following week.
- If the team you select fails to cover the spread, your entry is eliminated.
- Once you select a team for a week, that team is not available for selection for the remainder of the contest.
- The contestant(s) that have entries remain alive, without selecting a losing spread, is the $100,000 Spread Survivor Contest winner.
- The contest ends on Week 18 of the 2026 NFL season, or when there is only one contestant remaining; whichever comes first. i.e.: If three contestants remain in Week 15 and two contestants select losing teams, the remaining contestant is declared the winner.
- If multiple contestants remain alive after Week 18, they will split the $100,000 evenly.
- If a game is canceled or postponed for any reason and the game is not played before the following Wednesday, both teams scheduled to play in that game will be graded as losers.
- BetOnline reserves the right to modify the rules of this contest without notice.
Making Contest Selections
- The selection period for the upcoming contest week opens every Wednesday at 12:00 pm ET.
- The point spreads are determined by the odds available in the BetOnline Sportsbook at the time the weekly period opens. If a spread is not available when the selection period opens, the game will not be available for selection until a spread becomes available.
- Once the point spreads are released for each game, the odds will not change for the week.
- To make your weekly pick, simply select a team you think will cover the spread.
- Each game locks at its associated kickoff time.
- Once a pick is made, the selection may be changed at any time until the game locks. At this time, the selection is confirmed and may not be changed.
- You must submit picks for the current contest week before 8:15 pm ET on Monday night. If you do not select a team by this time, your entry will be graded as a loss and is eliminated from the contest.
- If a team is not available for selection this indicates the game has already locked, the team was previously selected or the team is on a ‘Bye’ week.
- If there is a ‘W2’ next to a team, this indicates you used this team Week 2 and it is no longer available for selection.
- Once you select a team, a confirmation will appear on your screen informing you that your selected was saved successfully.
- If you still have additional entries, keep repeating the procedure until you have submitted your picks for each entry.
- Selecting an entry will automatically load the matchups for the current NFL week.
