Sports Betting Sunday 5-23-21 Best Bets
Went 2 & 1 yesterday with my MLB bets and that is a profit. Try to keep it rolling with a couple of bets today.
Twins at Indians, 1:05 p.m. EDT
Starting Pitchers: J.A. Happ vs. Zach Plesac
Happ had a 1.91 ERA through his first five starts of the season, but in two straight outings against the White Sox, Happ was pounded for 15 runs in only seven innings. His ERA now stands at 5.35. He did have a good game against Cleveland earlier in the season and went 7 innings, giving up 2 runs and getting the win.
Plesac gave up five runs last time out and all of them were by home runs. Shohei Ohtani had a solo blast in the first, Justin Upton hit a 3 run shot and a solo home run to Jose Iglesias in the seventh. What stands out is that on a day he didn’t have his good stuff he still managed to get the win. He has gotten into at least the 7th inning in 4 of his last 5 starts. At home this season he has a 2.39 ERA & a 0.69 WHIP.

Indians money line at (-120) at Draftkings
Diamondbacks at Rockies, 3:05 p.m. EDT
Starting Pitchers: Taylor Widener vs. Jon Gray
An 11.5 total at Coors field isn’t unusual but it is still pretty high. However, a wind blowing straight out to center field at 17+ mph makes it too good to pass up. These teams have two bottom dwelling bullpens and this game could get ugly fast. I could see both teams having an inning where the each scored 5+ runs.
Widener gave up 3 home runs last time out against the Reds. Could top that by the third inning in this game. Gray hasn’t been that bad at home this season but his walk rate and swinging strike rate make me think it is time for a little regression.
Diamondbacks vs Rockies Bet
Game: Over 12 runs (-109) at Draftkings
Note: I bet the game earlier at 11.5 but went to 12 while writing up my picks. Still like it at 12 and would go to 12.5.
