Sports Betting Saturday 5-22-21 Best Bets

It is a beautiful Saturday morning here in Florida and I am spending my time looking at stats. Got to pay the rent and today I am starting with a MLB bet on the Yankees vs White Sox game. A weakness for the White Sox this season has been the relievers and I see them getting exposed today.

White Sox at Yankees, 1:05 p.m. EDT

Starting Pitchers: Dylan Cease vs. Gerrit Cole

Cole has been on top of his game at home with a 1.71 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 13.4 K/9 in 31.2 innings. He has gone at least 6 innings in 7 of his 9 starts and that has helped the Yankees to be in position to manage the relievers to finish the game.

Coles strength at home this year is not a fluke. Last season at home he was 4-1 with a 2.09 ERA and a WHIP of 0.96

Dylan Cease is 2-0 with a 2.41 ERA and a WHIP of 1.22 on the season. The only knock on Cease is he has gone over 5.0 innings only twice in his 8 starts this season. His walk rate has been a bit high at 4.4 per 9 innings but it is manageable. However, the walks are part of the reason he fails to go deep into games.

Yankees vs White Sox Bets

My money says that Cease has been pitching over his head and today is the day it ends. I have two run line bets. One for the first five and the other on the game.

First five bet: Yankees (-0.5) -128

Game Bet: Yankees (-1.5) -102

Rays at Blue Jays, 7:35 p.m. EDT

Starting Pitchers: Shane McClanahan vs Robbie Ray

The game will be played in Dunedin Florida and the temps will be in the upper 80s with the wind blowing out to left field at 11+ mph. Both starting pitchers have had a little home run problem and that should continue tonight. I don’t expect either starting pitcher to go past the 5th inning.

Yesterdays game ended with the Rays winning 9 to 7 and the 16 runs can be duplicated today. I have the over / under set at 11.5 runs in my betting model so the current line of 9.5 runs  is too good to pass up.

Rays vs Blue Jays Bets
