How to Delete or Cancel a BetMGM Account

It is impossible to “delete” a BetMGM sports betting account. You can deactivate / close the account but it will not technically be deleted. The reason for this is the welcome bonus. BetMGM will keep your information on file to prevent a customer from closing an account and then reopening a new account and receiving another welcome bonus.

For New Jersey BetMGM Accounts

Go to Service Closure, select the product(s) you wish to close or choose CLOSE ALL to deactivate your account. Even if all services are closed, you will be able log into your account to make a withdrawal, should you have any balance. You can also contact our Customer Service Team and request an account closure.

For Michigan Bet MGM Accounts

You may close your account at any time by simply contacting our Customer Service Team at support.mi@betmgm.com and requesting an account closure.

About BetMGM

BetMGM’s story is more than just a tale of a gambling platform; it’s a reflection of the evolving legal and technological landscape of the US gaming industry. Its origins intertwine with two giants – MGM Resorts International, known for its iconic casino presence, and Entain Holdings, a global leader in online gambling. Both saw an opportunity to capitalize on a seismic shift in the US, fueled by the 2018 Supreme Court decision overturning the nationwide ban on sports betting.

Partnership and Expansion (2018-2020):

  • July 2018: The birth of BetMGM is announced, a 50/50 joint venture between MGM and Entain. The goal? To become the leading force in sports betting and online gaming across the US, leveraging MGM’s brand recognition and Entain’s online expertise.
  • January 2019: BetMGM launches its first app in New Jersey, coinciding with the state’s official legalization of sports betting. Early success sets the stage for expansion into other markets.
  • 2019-2020: Rapid growth follows, with launches in Mississippi, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Colorado, and Nevada. Each launch brings strategic partnerships with local casinos and sports teams, solidifying BetMGM’s reach.

Navigating Challenges and Consolidation (2020-2023):

  • 2020: The COVID-19 pandemic presents unforeseen challenges. While brick-and-mortar casinos struggle, online betting platforms like BetMGM experience a surge in activity.
  • 2021: BetMGM continues expansion, entering Michigan, Virginia, Louisiana, Arizona, and Wyoming. However, legal hurdles and regulatory differences across states create complexities.
  • 2022: Focus shifts towards consolidation and profitability. Mergers and acquisitions within the industry intensify competition, prompting BetMGM to acquire its biggest competitor, DraftKings, in a proposed $11.6 billion deal. The deal ultimately falls through due to regulatory concerns.
  • 2023: BetMGM remains a top player despite the failed merger. Focus remains on market access, securing licenses in New York, Maryland, Kansas, and Ohio. Strategic partnerships with media giants like CBS Sports and MGM’s own MGM Grand Garden Arena solidify their brand presence.

Beyond Sports Betting: Diversification and Innovation (2023-Present):

  • Present: Recognizing the potential beyond sports betting, BetMGM expands into online casino gaming in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Partnerships with iconic brands like MGM Grand and The Mirage Hotel & Casino highlight their
